My name is Lyn, and I am so honored and excited to teach Ballet classes at All4Kids Studio. I am from Southern California and am currently attending Franciscan University of Steubenville. I love spending time with my family, drawing, singing, and finally, ballet. I have been practicing the artform and discipline of ballet for 12 years.
My ballet journey began with gymnastic classes at 5 years old because my older brother was a competitive gymnast. I was put into ballet to have more grace and poise because I was lacking confidence and was always getting hurt. Taking gymnastics was an advantage because the strength that gymnastics requires helped me progress faster in my ballet endeavor. I started dancing when I was 6 years old and was progressing quickly. By the age of 11 my teacher asked me if I wanted to start pointe. My teacher always said that it doesn't matter the age; what matters is the strength of a dancer. I stepped away from ballet for two years because of a move and a change of teachers.
When I returned to California at the age of 13, I had a new drive. I not only realized that I missed ballet but understood at a much deeper level how much ballet meant to me in all aspects of my life. The more focus that I spent on my training technique, the more confidence I had in myself and ultimately the more fun and love I had for ballet. My teacher, Lisa Cuizon, who was a professional ballet dancer for over 10 years, not only taught me the Balanchine technique and discipline of ballet, but she also pushed me to be a better person in and outside of the studio. I had the strength, I just needed to learn how to be confident in how I danced. Confidence and perseverance are qualities that every person needs regardless of if they plan on pursuing a professional dance career or not.
As my teacher always said, "Ballet is the only artform that uses your body as the instrument." My goal is to impart my passion for this artform to the students who attend All4Kids and every young person that I meet. I not only want to teach others my love for ballet, but I also desire to help children become confident, beautiful young people.
